Canterbury is a historic city in Kent, best known for its stunning Cathedral, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The city has deep religious significance and was a major pilgrimage site in medieval times, famously featured in Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales.
Today, Canterbury blends its rich medieval heritage with a lively modern atmosphere, thanks in part to its universities, historic architecture, restaurants, shopping and tourism.

The Westgate Gardens Canterbury attract thousands of visitors every year, as they are famous for the incredible colourful floral displays dotted along the banks of the River Stour, against the imposing backdrop of the ancient Westgate Towers and surrounded by picturesque remnants of a medieval folly.

A visit to the majestic world-famous UNESCO Site of Canterbury Cathedral in the heart of the city should be on your list. It’s where history happens and memories are made.

This great abbey, marking the rebirth of Christianity in southern England, was founded shortly after AD 597 by St Augustine & a great place to wander amongst the ruins

The Marlowe Theatre is Kent’s major large-scale theatre and engine house for the performing arts in the region.

The park is popular but never feels overcrowded with plenty of space to explore and soak up the scenery. The busiest area is the main entrance by the Westgate Towers but a short stroll along the river & the gardens open up into a larger space with plenty of room for sitting, relaxing & watching the river flow by.

The area outside The Marlowe Theatre brings calm by the river with seating & a general quiet feeling it is a great spot to relax & take in the views.
A short 50m walk from the Marlowe is Sollys Orchard which is a small green space with trees & river views that is a fantastic hidden spot away from the hustle & bustle.

Hidden in the centre of the historic end of Canterbury, the beautiful Franciscan Gardens is a heritage site that is home to the first Franciscan settlement in England which was established in 1224.
A direct escape from the busy high street of Canterbury it offers a haven of peace, where you can walk in the footsteps of the first Franciscans in England. Explore the nature and wildlife of the monastic lands whilst taking in the 800 years of history.

Dane John Gardens is a historic park within Canterbury city’s walls which dates back to 1551, and includes a mound which historical records prove was there in the first century AD. Stroll along the city walls which border one side of the gardens and wander up to the top of the mound for an excellent view of the city. Also on the top of the mound is a monument commemorating Alderman James Simmons’ gift of the gardens to the people of Canterbury.
